WEEKEND INSPIRATION: DREAMS
"There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: the fear of failure."
aulo Coelho, The Alchemist
Those dreams in the back of your mind are not a mistake. The ones that keep popping into your head, the ones that make you think "what if?", and the ones that you admire in others..... Are you envious of people who are chasing and fulfilling their dreams? That's your sign to start moving 🌟
My best friend and I were talking about this last week. We are both at a place in our lives where we want a little more out of our careers and dreams but we are very busy with work and raising a family. What do we sacrifice to make time? Not our family and usually there is not a lot of room in our career for flexibility. So we have to make it happen another way. Get creative! Make time where you can - wake up early, get a little extra childcare, and outsource where you can. Life comes in stages - sometimes you can give a lot, sometimes you can't.
We both are similar but have very different dreams and passions. I truly believe those passions in your mind, the thing that you know you'll regret f you don't pursue, are there for a reason and unique to you.
How do you nail it down if you're not entirely sure? For me, my career aspirations and hobbies have evolved over time. I maybe had a glimmer in my twenties, but the vision became clearer after I gained experience and exposure to other health care models. Look at people's careers you admire. I envy some of my friends. Not because of their actual dream or career because usually they are paths different than the one I would choose. I envy them because they are making it work and following their hearts. They may have children or a myriad of other responsibilities, yet they are living their dream. You can do that too! Set aside some time, make your plan and stick to it. Enlist help and delegate where you can and just do the work. It won't be easy, but it will be worth it.
