NEW YEAR, NEW YOU

I love the beginning of a new year.  To me, it signifies a new beginning, a chance to reevaluate where I am and an opportunity to develop a plan to get where I'd like to be over the year.  I like milestones. They give me structure and keep me organized!

Through some not so fun circumstances last year, I learned several important lessons that I plan to carry over to this year (and throughout my life!).

I've learned......that a lot of anxiety and stress is self-induced from expectations that you put on yourself.

I've learned......to be gentle with yourself; let go of the anger towards the people who have done you wrong.  Your anger towards others is only hurting yourself and you will be more at peace with yourself.

I've learned......to not compare myself with others and to be grateful for what I have.  I have a wonderful family, great friends and a good career.  It is not necessary to focus on the one thing wrong in each of those areas.  Be grateful for what you have and you will have more.

I've learned.....to question why I do things.  Am I doing it because of what others think?  What others expect?  Necessity? Responsibility?  Enjoyment?  There are some things that we just have to do but my goal is to do more things because I enjoy them and do less because of what others may think.

Cheers to a happy, healthy and wonderful 2015!
