LETTING GO: OF YOUR TO-DO LIST
The last few days have been a little rough, mainly because I was overscheduled and had some unexpected things to take care of. I was that friend the last week - the friend who needed a car jumpstart, the friend who needed to talk, the friend who needed a favor...
But through some serendipitous events, I had three free hours this morning to relax and catch up on my to-do's and then I had another uninterrupted four hours this afternoon!
I know I put a lot of pressure on myself. I want to be a great wife and cook. I want to be the best parent and fill my child's day with magical activities. I want to be an available, supportive friend. I want to be a good colleague, pharmacist, and leader. I want to have a successful career, full of challenges, accomplishments, and great people. I want to make healthy choices and exercise regularly. I want to write often.
First of all, you just can't be all of that everyday. And, I cannot be any of these things if I am tired, stressed, and overworked. I just don't have any motivation or energy left.
After we taking a few hours to myself this morning, I was energized and ready to give and it reminded me of the power of rest and rejuvenation. It doesn't take a lot - just a few uninterrupted hours here and there - and then you are ready to tackle the world again.
