Why I Fell In Love With The Brand Moon Juice

I am going to start doing product reviews and am starting with one of my favorite beauty brands! It’s not often that a company comes along that can do both skincare + supplements and have a sustainable vision to boot. Moon Juice is one of those companies. I had seen their products pop up at Sephora, Nordstrom and my IG feed before I started to dabble. And I am glad I did! When I started using Acid Potion, I started getting comments about my *glowing* skin. When I started using Magnesi-Om, my sleep dramatically improved, and when I started using SuperYou during the COVID pandemic….well….let’s just say it was life-changing for managing my stress and calming my nerves.

Moon Juice is a supplement and skincare company that essentially bridges the world of alchemy and biology for functional benefits. Founded by Amanda Chantal Bacon in 2011, Moon Juice is more than a business, it’s personal too. After suffering from an autoimmune disease and being told remission was not possible, Bacon made changes to her lifestyle, saw dramatic changes in her health and discovered an opening in the market for supplements. 

**I will side note here to say that pharmacists are usually pretty skeptical of supplements and I don’t make recommendations lightly. Why? Because there are a lot of not so great companies out there, supplements are not regulated like prescription medications (see my post here) and there’s not a lot of evidence that many of them work. It’s important to note that there IS evidence around efficacy for many of them (Vitamin D, Magnesium, etc…)... you just have to do your research, buy from a reputable source and take them under the direction of a healthcare provider.**  

Naturally, I approached Moon Juice in the same way. Do their supplements work? 

IMO, yes. Yes, they do.

I am still exploring their product lines and below are 5 of my favorite products including two amazing products for your skin. 

Acid Potion. This is a holy grail product. No exaggeration. Acid potion has glycolic, lactic and, and salicylic acid that acts as a chemical exfoliant and gives you that coveted “glow”. Niacinamide and adaptogenic Reishi help hydrate, soothe, and balance your skin tone. I use this after I cleanse in the evening and before my serum and moisturizer. It is important to wear SUNSCREEN, especially when using this product. Also, do not use this one the days that you use a retinoid. 

Super YOU.  All of the Supers are pretty great, but I love this one for stress management and focus. Like I mentioned earlier, I started taking this during the pandemic. This supplement is centered on ingredients with adaptogenic properties. Ashwagandha for stress and irritability, Rhodiola to reduce fatigue and increase alertness, Amla to protect skin from oxidative stress, and Shatavari for hormonal balance. 

Magnesi-Om. I love magnesium. Not only is it amazing for cellular repair, it also helps with sleep, migraines and a host of other things. There are a lot of different forms and this supplement is a chelated blend of gluconate, acetyl taurinate and citrate. It also tastes great! I mix a teaspoon with water before bed and sleep like a baby. 

Plump Jelly. This is a hyaluronic acid serum that adds moisture and hydration to cells which results in a supple glow. I use this after Acid Potion and before the moisturizer, Cosmic Cream. The results are truly amazing! 

Brain Dust. The afternoon slump is no joke and with this nootropic blend of adaptogens, not only do you get a boost to your alertness and stamina, it also has some of the same ingredients as SuperYou so you get some stress-relieving benefits as well! Stress can be a huge zap to our energy and mental clarity so we need to address that too!
